Students at Lakewood High School explore the impact of flood gates, diversion ditches, and hypersaline ponds on the water quality within the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. They use ArcView GIS to display and analyze trends in dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, nitrates and phosphates within the wetlands. Benthic habitat surrounding Catalina Island. Habitat is delineated into 8 classes using two variables: substrate and depth. Substrate is categorized into: ‘hard’ and ‘soft’. Depth is categorized into four zones: 0-30m (euphotic zone), 30-100 m (upper continental shelf), 100-200 m (lower continental shelf), and >200 m (continental slope). Download data set (ZIP, 883KB).
